For this private residence in Steffisburg, an existing kitchen was completely replaced, a load-bearing wall was removed, and the space was reimagined. The goal was a modern, timeless design that would blend harmoniously with the existing layout and enhance the open living area. The result: more light, clean lines, high-quality materials, and a kitchen that combines functionality with atmosphere – offering an unobstructed view of the outdoors and plenty of space to live.

From an initial idea emerged a space that tangibly unites warmth, clarity, and craftsmanship. For this private client, I had the privilege of overseeing the interior design project from start to finish – from the initial design sketches to the handover of the keys.

Following careful asbestos removal and targeted structural interventions, the kitchen that now unfolds is more than just a functional space: it is a gathering place, a workspace, and the heart of the home. The custom-made kitchen furnishings from the carpentry workshop combine matte fronts in an earthy burgundy red with warm wood and precise stainless steel details. The cooking island stands confidently in the room, inviting people to cook together, linger, and chat.

Special attention was paid to seamlessly integrating new and existing elements. The frames of the custom-built cabinetry echo the design of the existing windows and doors, allowing the new elements to blend naturally into the home. Open shelving, the pantry, and the built-in bar cabinet create a sense of lightness and provide space for personal items.

A finely tuned lighting concept featuring integrated linear lights and indirect lighting highlights the architecture and lends the space a calm, cozy atmosphere at any time of day. The result is a space with character – minimalist, high-quality, and individually tailored to the clients.
